NBC Redding – Day 5

On the last day of camp, the campers played in their 5-on-5 teams throughout the morning. Camp ended with the closing program in the Simpson gym. Awards were handed out and everyone watched the video from Intensity Night. Another great end to another great camp.

NBC Redding – Day 4 – PURE INSPIRATION

Day 4

On the last full day of camp, the posts and guards were grouped together by age and went off to their respective sites to learn about how to take the individual skills they learned earlier in the week and apply them in a team setting. After afternoon stations, campers played 5-on-5 games followed by the all-star games, where the Pac-10 all-stars pushed the coaches to the limit, but came up short, falling to the coaches by 3.

At the Main Event, coach Steve Underholzner spoke to the campers about God’s love, about how it doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, or what your story is, God still loves you. After discussion groups, we had Open Mic in the gym where campers could get up on stage and address the entire camp about something they learned during the week. After Open Mic, the coaches and campers celebrated their last night of camp with delicious pizza.

Intensity Night!!!

Day 3, like the day before, began unofficially with Bill Stricker’s self improvement time at about 5:45 am. After ball handling and breakfast,the leagues went to their sites for morning stations. Following pretty much the same schedule as Day 2, the campers had another session of stations in the afternoon after lunch.

At the Main Event, coach Jordan McDaniel shared a personal story about the insight he gained while both reading about and having conversations with his grandfather. Jordan encouraged the campers to write the “things left unsaid” in the letters they would be writing.

After discussion groups in which the campers began their letters, Intensity Night was set to begin. During Intensity Night, the campers were pushed hard by the coaches, harder by their teammates, and hardest by themselves to achieve far beyond what even they thought they were capable. They poured every ounce of energy they had into each drill, closing the night witha camp-wide defensive drill. The campers celebrated their accomplishment with refreshing popsicles and bananas.

NBC Redding – Day 2 – PURE INTEGRITY

The first full day of teaching was scheduled to begin with wake-up at 7:00 am, but most campers were in the gym long before that for Site Director Bill Stricker’s self-improvement time. During this time the campers participate in a voluntary workout with Coach Bill works with those who are determined to get better. The morning officially began with the boys and girls alternating between ball-handling and breakfast. The campers then went to their sites for morning stations. After lunch, the campers had another round of stations. In the late afternoon, the guards and posts were brought together to play some 5-on-5 games.

At the Main Event, coach Stacia Stricker spoke to the campers about integrity. She encouraged campers not to compromise their values for others, and at the end of her talk, challenged the campers to think about who they really are. Afterwards, discussion groups closed out the first full day of camp.

NBC Redding – Day 1 – PURE IMPACT

NBC-Redding’s Guard/Post camp started with a bang as campers were introduced to our new pre-camp workout in the Simpson Gym. After orientation, the campers were split up into leagues by age and position. Once these leagues were determined, they went to their separate sites for the first sessions stations.

After dinner, the campers went to the gym for the Main Event, our night program where a speaker talks about the theme of the day. Site director Bill Stricker talked to the campers about todays theme, PURE IMPACT. After the Main Event, the campers met in their teams for discussion groups where they shared their thoughts about the things Bill said.
